Menu Editor

This addon gave me the much needed power. Actually the default FF comes with a lil big rt click menu. I didn’t need much of the entries at all and hence was searching for this thing a long time from now. As you can see its just a matter of a single click and you can get rid of individual annoying menu entries.

Flashgot

This addon has been used by me for as long as I can remember. This addon directs the downloads to your fav download manager. Mine is flashget.

Download Statusbar

This addon adds a download statusbar right at the bottom line of the FF window. If you browse and download a lot of pictures like me then you need this. Sometimes we save images and then due to some or the other reason ff starts downloading the whole image from the site instead of taking it from the cache. That and also the download window doesnt open up on my FF by default if a dl is in progress. That is coz it takes up lot of taskbar space so that is why I use this.

FireFTP

This adds a FTP interface to FF. I personally dont use much of FTP’s but still I have this just in case

Ava Find

This is a small and nifty utility for all of us peeps who have loads of storage and kinda remember a file that we had saved up a long time back and now want it. If you have a good memory then you don’t need this at all. But if you are like me then you need this software. This software is very swift, very very light on resources and doesn’t interfere with your work at all. It minds its own business in the system tray, tho it uses 9MB of RAM, but I got 1 GB of RAM so it doesn’t matter to me. Anyways it indexed my 323 GB of data in 5 mins flat and started serving me search results in seconds. I mean you start to type a filename and it lists all the files that are on the hdd starting with that name. Give it a try its worth it.

Kaspersky Internet Security 6

I had been using this av for quite sometime. Now since I have the Internet and always have this itch to upgrade all the softwares I have, I update my (Kaspersky Internet Security) KIS from V6 to V7. Then started the woes. My machine wasn’t cleaned for a long time (owing to my job) and it needed attention ASAP. So my machine decided to do a little thing. The RAM chip is the thing that scares me the most, I had an incident long time back (2 yrs) when my RAM had died on me. Since then I’m very much scared of them. So coming back to the point, my RAM chips started giving me the same error that I had gotten when my chips had died. I was staring in horror at my PC when I saw the same symptoms. And then me being a System Admin of a company having nearly 4000 computers, I found out that the machine was misbehaving because of the dust. So the I cleaned it and the machine was running properly. Now when I booted and was back running, my Windows which was running all nice all of a sudden started freezing and getting hiccups. This is not cool with me and I tried a lot of stuff to get it running properly. I know the culprit is KIS but am not able to narrow down the problem. Till then its hic hic pc for me

My endeavor with phpbb2

Hello all,

This post comes a long time after my last post on my blog. The thing is that I was busy with a lot of stuff and my job that is why my blog was neglected. But here I am again to post on my blog. Now I always had a fantasy to atleast make a website for once. But I failed miserably every time I tried. Now this was always on Windows. Since I got my RHCE and read a lot about LAMP, I decided to give it a shot and make a phpbb2 forum. But again I ran into loads of issues and then couldn’t get it working right.

Yesterday was talking to a friend of mine and he told me to tryout XAMPP for Windows. I thought what the hell if I had to do it why not on Windows. So I downloaded the XAMPP package and the phpbb2 package at my office pc. And viola the installation went fine and no errors were reported. Then I went on to install phpbb2 and guess what the installation page turned up. I felt as if I won the world over. Then I went on to make it useable and that was when I realised that I needed to get some real book to get the forum running. Now the forum is running on XAMPP that is on Windows.

Now I need to some snazzy graphics and then I’m done. And also in the mean time I need to figure out how to backup stuff off the machine. Just in case people get serious about the site and then they decide to make it a full time thing then I would be in a pickle. So I have to figure out something really fast to do.

My poor blog.

Since I got a job that is the day I posted the last post on this page I havent had the time to look at my blog. Today I had some spare time so I thought why not post something that showed I’m still there . So here is it and that is it.

New theme.

Was bored of the old theme, looked like crap but was simple. When I added categories and all, the whole thing looked like crap hence I changed the theme. Now this one looks kinda nice. Lets see how many days this one goes on for.

New face for the blog

Ok so somewhat a plain theme for my blog coz dint like most of the themes and hence just used a plain looking but good theme. So lets see if I can make anything more on this one.

Ok so here is my first post and I can dare to waste it on useless stuff. I dunno what I am gonna do with this blog but just wanted to put all my doings whatever I do on this blog so that all my friends can see it.
